What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of Upwork's Kubernetes infrastructure, focusing on optimizing performance and scalability. You will collaborate with the Hybrid Workforce Solutions Team to enhance the security and resilience of applications through effective service mesh strategies. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the deployment of Kubernetes clusters, managing application-level proxies, and ensuring seamless communication between distributed components. You will also be tasked with implementing monitoring and observability tools to track system performance and identify areas for improvement. As a Principal Engineer, you will guide architectural decisions, influence technical direction, and contribute to the overall strategy for cloud-native application development. You will work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives, ensuring that Upwork's platform remains at the forefront of innovation in the gig economy.
