Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in designing and scaling large-scale, data-intensive systems. Your expertise includes working with massive datasets and distributed data pipelines, and you have a strong understanding of high-throughput backend architectures. You are proficient in Python and TypeScript, and you have hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes, which are essential for building and deploying cloud-based applications. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with diverse teams to innovate and solve complex problems.

You have a solid understanding of database technologies, particularly PostgreSQL, and you are familiar with REST API design principles. Your experience with Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes allows you to create scalable and maintainable applications. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for optimizing performance and ensuring reliability in production systems. You are also comfortable with big data technologies, such as BigQuery, which enhances your ability to manage and analyze large datasets effectively.

Desirable

Experience with additional cloud services and tools is a plus, as is familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance your work and the team's output. You understand the importance of documentation and code quality, and you actively participate in code reviews to help maintain high standards within the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining backend systems that support Varicent's innovative SaaS solutions. You will design and implement scalable data pipelines that enable organizations to extract insights from their data efficiently. Your work will involve collaborating closely with product managers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the backend systems meet the needs of the business and its customers.

You will also be involved in optimizing existing systems for performance and reliability, ensuring that they can handle high volumes of data and traffic. You will participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the overall technical direction of the team. As a senior engineer, you will mentor junior team members, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them grow in their roles.
