Who you are

5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have tackled complex problems in a fast-paced environment. You have a strong sense of ownership and enjoy working on 0–1 products, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.

Deep expertise in Java and Spring — you've shipped high-performance backend services and have a solid understanding of system architecture and design principles. Your experience with AWS allows you to leverage cloud technologies effectively, ensuring scalability and reliability in your solutions.

You thrive in agile environments and are comfortable navigating the challenges that come with developing new products. Your ability to communicate effectively with front-end engineers, designers, and product managers enables you to contribute to the overall success of the team.

Desirable

Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools will help you streamline development processes and enhance team productivity.

What you'll do

Join Veeva Systems as a Senior/Principal Software Engineer - Backend and lead the development of backend services for our New Markets team. You will collaborate closely with front-end engineers, designers, and product managers to create innovative solutions that meet the needs of life sciences companies. Your role will involve designing and implementing scalable backend services, ensuring they are robust and maintainable.

You will take ownership of the backend architecture, making critical decisions that impact the performance and reliability of our products. Your expertise will guide the team in adopting best practices for coding, testing, and deployment, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers. You will also participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure high standards are maintained across the codebase.
