You have extensive experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, particularly with Java applications and modern open-source technologies. Your background ideally comes from enterprise software development or a high-growth tech company, where you've tackled complex challenges and ensured the reliability of production systems. You are naturally curious and skilled at problem-solving, with a unique engineering perspective that allows you to understand how systems integrate in production. You thrive in environments where you can make a tangible impact on production systems, ensuring they operate smoothly for hundreds of customers across North America, Europe, and Asia.

You possess a deep understanding of cloud technologies and have experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring solutions. Your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams is essential, as you will work closely with developers and product teams to enhance system reliability and performance. You are committed to continuous learning and improvement, always seeking to optimize processes and systems for better outcomes.

Desirable

Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker is a plus, as is familiarity with AWS services. You may also have knowledge of incident management practices and a strong grasp of security best practices in cloud environments.

What you'll do

In your role as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will ensure the scalability and reliability of Veeva's enterprise applications. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact customers. Your expertise in Java will be crucial as you work on optimizing application performance and reliability.

You will collaborate with development teams to establish best practices for deploying and managing applications in production. This includes creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to streamline the deployment process and reduce downtime. You will also participate in incident response efforts, leading post-mortem analyses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.

Your role will involve capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure that systems can handle increasing loads as Veeva continues to grow. You will also contribute to the development of documentation and training materials to help onboard new team members and share knowledge across the organization.
