Who you are

You have a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering and bring 4+ years of relevant industry experience to the table. Your expertise lies in building and scaling access systems to millions of users around the world, and you possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Mastery of at least one of Python or Go is essential, and you have experience with relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working on complex problems that require innovative solutions. Your background includes designing scalable control planes and data primitives for various products, and you have a keen understanding of microservices architecture. You are passionate about creating systems that can handle high traffic from hundreds of thousands of devices deployed globally.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Verkada, you will be part of the Core Command team, focusing on scaling the Auth, Users, Roles, and Audit capabilities of Verkada's core products. You will design scalable control planes and data primitives that support the company's mission to enhance physical security through an integrated platform. Your role will involve building scalable distributed systems capable of handling high traffic, ensuring that the infrastructure can support the needs of large organizations.

You will be responsible for spinning up new services within a microservices architecture, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the backend systems are robust and efficient. Your contributions will directly impact the safety and efficiency of organizations worldwide, as you work on solutions that include video security, access control, and more. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and lead code reviews, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
