Who you are
You have a strong background in machine learning, with at least 5 years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning models. Your expertise includes working with large-scale generative models and reinforcement learning algorithms, and you have a solid understanding of the principles of machine learning and data science. You are passionate about improving autonomous driving technologies and have a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions in this domain.
You are proficient in Python and have hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. You understand the intricacies of training and fine-tuning models, and you are skilled in implementing novel algorithms that enhance system performance. Your analytical mindset allows you to evaluate complex data sets and derive actionable insights that drive improvements in machine learning systems.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and researchers. Your strong communication skills enable you to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of project goals and challenges. What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for building scalable systems that train and fine-tune large-scale generative models, focusing on producing and evaluating realistic driving behaviors. You will lead the implementation of novel reinforcement learning algorithms and develop reward functions tailored for generating high-fidelity driving scenarios. Your work will directly contribute to the enhancement of the Waymo Driver, improving its performance and reliability.
You will collaborate closely with the DUE ML Core London team, leveraging your expertise to improve evaluation systems and developer onboarding journeys. Your contributions will involve designing and executing experiments that assess the effectiveness of various machine learning techniques, ensuring that the Waymo Driver remains at the forefront of autonomous driving technology.
You will also engage in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team. Your insights will help shape the direction of machine learning initiatives at Waymo, as you work to push the boundaries of what is possible in autonomous driving.
