Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building and optimizing complex systems. Your background includes working on mission-critical applications, and you understand the intricacies of fleet management and ride-hailing technologies. You are self-sufficient and product-minded, capable of driving projects from conception to delivery while collaborating effectively across teams.
Your expertise in Java and cloud technologies allows you to contribute to the development of scalable and reliable systems. You have a strong understanding of cross-cutting problems that require collaboration with various stakeholders, including product, UX, and engineering teams. You thrive in environments that challenge your technical skills and require innovative solutions.
What you'll do
In this role, you will help build and evolve mission-critical commercialization tools and systems for Waymo's fleet management. You will collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineering teams to develop solutions that enhance the Waymo Driver's capabilities. Your work will involve designing and implementing systems that manage and optimize ride-hailing services, ensuring they are efficient and user-friendly.
You will be responsible for addressing cross-team challenges, working with mobile app developers, cloud backend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality infrastructure. Your role will also include mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the overall technical direction of the team. You will participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning sessions to ensure alignment with Waymo's mission of providing safe and reliable autonomous transportation.
