You have a deep understanding of software architecture and design principles, enabling you to create scalable and maintainable code. Your experience includes debugging and optimizing performance in large codebases, and you are adept at using modern development tools and practices. You are a proactive communicator, able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Desirable

What you'll do

In this role, you will take ownership of the onboard infrastructure that supports the Planner Reasoning capabilities of the Waymo Driver. You will collaborate with a team of over 100 engineers to develop and refine software that enhances the performance of autonomous vehicles. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing interfaces and infrastructure that facilitate the development and debugging of onboard software.

You will work closely with the Lead Software Engineer to establish clear development processes and interfaces that improve the efficiency of the engineering team. Your contributions will directly impact the Waymo Driver's ability to operate safely and effectively in various environments, as you help accelerate improvements and expand the technology to new cities.

You will engage in code reviews, provide feedback to peers, and participate in architectural discussions to ensure the robustness of the software. Additionally, you will have opportunities to mentor junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and understanding of the technology.
