Your background includes writing Linux Kernel drivers and creating user-space APIs to interface with custom hardware. Your expertise in Linux is complemented by a strong understanding of embedded systems, including custom ASICs and FPGAs. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for optimizing system performance while ensuring reliability.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be a key member of the System Software Team at Waymo, responsible for developing and maintaining the primary compute node of Waymo's on-vehicle compute platform. You will write and optimize Linux Kernel drivers that facilitate communication with custom hardware components, ensuring that the Waymo Driver operates at peak performance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Hardware, Compute, Sensor, Perception, and Behavior teams, to integrate software solutions that enhance the overall functionality of the self-driving system. Your work will involve full-system debugging and performance tuning, where you will analyze system performance metrics and make recommendations for improvements.

You will also participate in design reviews and contribute to architectural decisions that impact the system's performance and reliability. Your role will require you to stay updated with the latest advancements in embedded systems and Linux development, ensuring that Waymo remains at the forefront of autonomous driving technology.
