You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in developing system software for complex applications. Your expertise in C++ and Linux allows you to build efficient and reliable software solutions that meet high-performance standards. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including hardware and machine learning engineers, to create integrated systems that enhance the capabilities of autonomous vehicles.
Your strong problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex challenges in software development, from low-level system software to high-bandwidth data logging. You have a solid understanding of performance analysis and debugging techniques, which helps you ensure the reliability and trustworthiness of the software you develop. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy sharing knowledge with your peers.
What you'll do
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Platforms team, you will work on developing system software components from early prototyping to production launch for Waymo's autonomous vehicles. You will focus on improving the efficiency, reliability, and trustworthiness of the onboard software infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the high standards required for autonomous driving technology. You will collaborate closely with various engineering teams, including hardware, compute, sensor, perception, and machine learning, to build the most performant and low-latency self-driving solution in the industry.
You will be responsible for full-system debugging and system telemetry, which are critical for maintaining the operational integrity of the Waymo Driver. Your role will involve performance analysis to identify bottlenecks and optimize system components, ensuring that the software can handle the demands of real-world driving scenarios. You will also participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
