You have 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, particularly in low-level software development and infrastructure management. Your background includes working with Linux-based systems, and you understand the intricacies of real-time data flow and diagnostics in complex environments. You are skilled in performance analysis and have a strong grasp of data logging techniques, ensuring that systems operate efficiently and effectively.
Your experience includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, including hardware, compute, and machine learning, to deliver high-performance solutions. You are adept at troubleshooting and debugging complex systems, and you thrive in environments where you can contribute to the development of cutting-edge technology. You are passionate about autonomous systems and are eager to make a significant impact in the field of self-driving technology.
Desirable
Experience with telematics systems or similar technologies is a plus. Familiarity with over-the-air (OTA) software updates and high-bandwidth telemetry will set you apart. You have a proactive approach to problem-solving and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
What you'll do
As a Senior Systems Engineer at Waymo, you will be integral to the System Software Team, focusing on the Telematics unit. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, secure, and maintain the connectivity infrastructure that supports the Waymo Driver. This includes ensuring that all data flow in and out of the autonomous vehicle is seamless and efficient.
You will work on real-time diagnostics, enabling the team to monitor vehicle performance and address issues proactively. Your role will also involve implementing OTA software updates, ensuring that the Waymo Driver remains up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.
Collaboration is key in this role; you will partner with various teams, including hardware and machine learning, to optimize the performance of the self-driving system. You will engage in full-system debugging, analyzing performance metrics, and identifying areas for improvement.
Your contributions will directly impact the safety and reliability of the Waymo Driver, as you help build the most performant and low-latency self-driving solution in the industry. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the team.
