Job Description
Who you are
You have over 10 years of experience in developing low latency, large-scale, user-facing distributed systems — you've led teams and have a strong understanding of the transportation and mobility sectors. Your technical leadership experience is complemented by your ability to manage and mentor both junior and senior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive.
Your expertise in building backend applications and APIs is evident — you have a deep understanding of system architecture and can navigate complex technical challenges with ease. You are proficient in C++, which is preferred for this role, and you hold a Master's degree in Computer Science or possess equivalent practical experience.
You are passionate about the autonomous vehicle industry and understand the nuances of building technology that enhances user experience and safety. Your people management skills are strong, allowing you to effectively communicate and align your team with the company's mission to improve access to mobility.
Desirable
Experience in the transportation as a service (TaaS) sector is a plus, as is familiarity with ride-hailing and delivery use cases. You are comfortable working in a hybrid environment, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration.
What you'll do
As the Technical Lead Manager for the Trip Platform team at Waymo, you will lead a growing team of 5-6 engineers to implement and scale the core trip platform. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the development of features that support multiple high-growth use cases, including ride-hailing and delivery, across both first-party and third-party partners. You will ensure that the platform meets the needs of users while maintaining high standards of quality and performance.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define the technical roadmap and prioritize initiatives that align with business goals. Your role will involve hands-on technical leadership, guiding your team through the complexities of building robust backend systems that can handle significant user demand.
In addition to technical oversight, you will be responsible for mentoring your team members, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers. You will conduct regular one-on-ones to provide feedback and support, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
You will also engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable development plans. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences will be crucial in ensuring alignment across the organization.
What we offer

You will be part of a mission-driven company that is dedicated to improving safety and accessibility in transportation. We provide a hybrid work environment that allows for flexibility while encouraging collaboration and teamwork.
In addition to competitive compensation, we offer comprehensive benefits that support your well-being and professional growth. You will have the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact on society. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your passion and potential are what matter most.
