Who you are
You have extensive experience in legal counsel, particularly in the payments sector, and understand the complexities of financial services. Your background includes advising on the design and operation of payment systems, ensuring compliance with regulations while fostering innovation. You excel in collaboration, working closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Business Development to navigate legal challenges and support business objectives.
You are a strategic thinker who can anticipate legal issues and provide proactive solutions. Your communication skills allow you to articulate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders effectively. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that legal considerations are integrated into product development from the outset.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the legal support for Whatnot's payments initiatives, advising on new payment features and financial products. You will work closely with various teams to ensure that all payment systems are compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Your responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing contracts with processors and card networks, as well as providing guidance on risk management related to payment operations.
You will also play a key role in developing partnerships with fintech players, ensuring that Whatnot's payment solutions are innovative and competitive. Your expertise will help shape the future of Whatnot's payment offerings, contributing to the overall success of the platform.
