What you'll do

As a Staff Database Administrator at Wikimedia, you will be responsible for the health and performance of the organization's production relational database systems. This includes ensuring the structural integrity of data and maintaining high availability for the services that depend on these systems. You will deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot relational database systems, ensuring they operate smoothly across production, development, and staging environments. Your role will involve designing and implementing multi-site replication topologies to enhance data availability and resilience.

You will consult on the design of database schemas and queries, providing guidance to development teams on best practices for database interactions. Your responsibilities will also include automating processes related to database management to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. You will work closely with the SRE Data Persistence team, contributing to the overall strategy for Wikimedia's production storage and retrieval systems. Your work will directly impact the daily experiences of hundreds of millions of users who rely on Wikipedia and its sister projects.
