What you'll do
In this hands-on engineering role, you will help design, develop, and deliver security features with a focus on user safety. You will collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure that they adhere to safe architectural practices. Your responsibilities will include leading code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the overall team culture. You will also be involved in planning and rolling out improvements to the security architecture, ensuring that the platform remains resilient against attacks.
You will work primarily on the MediaWiki platform, which powers Wikipedia, and must meet stringent performance standards while addressing new security challenges. Your role will involve detecting and preventing platform abuse from bots and implementing modern authentication technologies. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Wikimedia projects remain secure and trustworthy for thousands of editors every day.
