Who you are
You are a seasoned software engineer with a strong background in building security features for large-scale systems. With a deep understanding of secure web applications, you recognize the importance of testing and documentation in the development process. Your experience includes working with modern authentication technologies and addressing security challenges such as platform abuse and emerging threats.
You have a proven track record of collaborating with engineering teams to ensure safe and compliant architectural choices. You lead by example in code reviews and decision-making, fostering a culture of safety and security within your team. Your ability to communicate effectively with product managers and other stakeholders allows you to design and implement features that protect users and enhance their experience on the platform.
What you'll do
In this role, you will help design, develop, and deliver security features with a focus on user safety and security. You will work closely with other engineering teams to ensure that they adhere to best practices in security and compliance. Your responsibilities will include leading code reviews, making architectural decisions, and mentoring junior engineers to cultivate a strong team culture. You will tackle challenges related to modern authentication technologies and develop strategies to detect and prevent platform abuse from bots. Your work will directly impact the safety of Wikipedia and its users, making it essential to stay updated on emerging threats and security practices.
