Overview
WorkOS is hiring a Product Engineer to build reliable, high-throughput systems and design intuitive APIs for authorization. You'll work with complex data modeling and distributed systems challenges. This role requires experience in building production-ready products.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in building reliable, high-throughput systems — your experience includes defining new abstractions that simplify complex authorization requirements for developers. You are motivated by challenges in data modeling and distributed systems, taking ownership of high-impact systems from start to finish.
You enjoy collaborating directly with customers to deliver robust, production-ready products — your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly helps bridge the gap between engineering and user needs. You thrive in a fully distributed team environment, adapting to various North American time zones while maintaining productivity.
Desirable
Experience with authentication and identity management systems is a plus — you understand the nuances of security and user experience in these domains. Familiarity with API design principles and best practices will help you excel in this role, as you will be responsible for creating scalable and simple APIs.
What you'll do
As a Product Engineer at WorkOS, you will play a crucial role in building tools and services that empower developers to implement authentication and authorization seamlessly. You will work closely with your team to design and develop high-throughput systems that meet the needs of rapidly growing SaaS companies.
You will define new abstractions that make authorization intuitive for developers — your work will directly impact how easily customers can integrate these systems into their applications. You will also be involved in designing APIs that are both scalable and user-friendly, ensuring that they can handle high volumes of requests efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and feedback, iterating on product features based on user input, and ensuring that the systems you build are robust and production-ready. You will also engage with customers to understand their needs and challenges, using this insight to inform your engineering decisions.
What we offer
At WorkOS, we provide a fully distributed work environment that allows you to work from anywhere in the United States. We value your contributions and offer competitive compensation packages, including equity options. Our culture emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to building tools that make a difference for developers.
You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of engineers and product professionals who are passionate about creating impactful solutions. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective and skills could be a great fit for our team.
