Who you are
You have a strong background in security engineering, with practical experience in addressing findings from security audits and penetration tests. Your expertise in cloud security and secure software development practices enables you to effectively manage vulnerabilities and improve threat intelligence capabilities across platforms.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product and engineering teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Your ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly helps foster a culture of security awareness within the organization.
You are well-versed in cloud architectures and have experience designing and maintaining secure systems. Your technical skills include proficiency in AWS and Docker, as well as a solid understanding of Linux environments and scripting languages like Python.
You are proactive in identifying security risks and implementing measures to mitigate them. Your analytical mindset allows you to assess security incidents and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
Desirable
Experience with security tools such as Cloudflare and familiarity with threat intelligence frameworks would be advantageous. A background in compliance and regulatory standards related to security is also a plus.
What you'll do
As a Security Engineer at Xero, you will play a key role in enhancing the security posture of our infrastructure and applications. You will collaborate with the Platform Engineering team to ensure that security measures are not just theoretical but effectively implemented in practice.
Your responsibilities will include conducting security audits, managing vulnerabilities, and addressing findings from penetration tests. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to improve secure development practices and design secure cloud architectures.
You will also be responsible for embedding security into the SDLC, ensuring that software is designed, developed, and deployed securely. Your work will directly contribute to reducing risk and easing the security burden on product and engineering teams.
