Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in systems-level software development. Your expertise includes working with high-performance, low-latency systems, and you understand the intricacies of networking and hardware interfaces. You are proficient in C and C++, and you have a solid grasp of Linux environments, which allows you to develop and optimize code effectively.
Your background includes experience with debugging and performance tuning, ensuring that the systems you develop are not only functional but also efficient. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with project managers, performance engineers, and quality engineers to align development efforts with business needs. You are familiar with low-level interfaces and have a keen interest in optimizing interactions with storage and network hardware.
Desirable
Experience with kernel modules or filesystems is a plus, as is familiarity with technologies such as PCIe, NVMe, DMA, RDMA, epoll, and io_uring. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of Aerospike's platform.
What you'll do
As a Senior Software Engineer at Aerospike, you will design and implement systems-level software that enhances the performance and reliability of our database platform. Your primary focus will be on developing high-performance, low-latency code that interacts seamlessly with storage and network hardware. You will be responsible for debugging and optimizing existing systems, ensuring they meet the demands of mission-critical workloads.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address performance bottlenecks, contributing to the overall efficiency of our systems. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code and participating in code reviews to uphold high standards of software quality. You will also engage in discussions around architectural decisions, providing insights based on your experience and expertise.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers. You will contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging innovation and experimentation within the team.
What we offer
At Aerospike, we offer a competitive salary range of $170,000 - $195,000 for California-based applicants, with actual compensation determined by experience and other factors.
