Backend Engineer • Mid-Level

Who you are

You have 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a strong foundation in backend development and API design. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and analytics, to ensure successful project delivery. You have a track record of leading projects and initiatives, demonstrating your ability to break down larger tasks into manageable phases while maintaining a focus on timely delivery.

You possess a solid understanding of technical constraints and can articulate these effectively to stakeholders. Your experience includes supporting the operations and availability of software artifacts, creating and monitoring metrics, and participating in on-call efforts to ensure system reliability. You are committed to fostering a sense of community within your team, engaging in growth and development activities, and contributing to the interview process for new team members.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be part of a fast-paced team responsible for the APIs that partners and merchants use to integrate with Affirm. You will collaborate closely with your team’s tech lead and manager to break down larger projects into individual tasks and deliver them in multiple phases. Your contributions will directly impact the integration experience for top partners like Amazon and Stripe, ensuring that the APIs are robust and user-friendly.

You will support your peers and stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle, participating in ideation sessions and helping to articulate technical constraints. Your role will also involve monitoring the performance of your team’s artifacts, escalating issues when necessary, and supporting ongoing operational efforts to keep systems running smoothly. You will engage in activities that promote team growth and development, including participating in the interview process and mentoring junior engineers.
