You'll play a key role in advancing hardware and software for satellite missions. This position requires a strong background in optical analysis and systems thinking.
Job Description
Who you are
You are a systems thinker with a strong background in optical analysis, eager to contribute to the advancement of satellite technology in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO). You thrive in environments that require precision and iteration, and you are energized by the challenge of creating new categories rather than competing in existing ones. You have a passion for building and owning outcomes, not just tasks, and you are excited about the opportunity to make a significant impact as one of the first 100 employees at Albedo.
You possess a collaborative mindset and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where calculated risks are encouraged. Your experience in hardware and software development for satellite systems positions you well to contribute to the scaling and upgrading of VLEO buses and payloads. You are motivated by the mission of enabling satellite missions that matter for national security and everyday life on Earth.
Desirable
Experience in optical systems design or analysis is a plus, as is familiarity with satellite technology and operations. A background in AI applications within engineering disciplines would also be beneficial, as Albedo regularly utilizes AI to enhance productivity across various functions.
What you'll do
As a Lead Optical Analysis Engineer at Albedo, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative solutions for satellite missions in VLEO. Your responsibilities will include advancing hardware designs to enhance satellite longevity and performance, as well as contributing to the development of next-generation flight and ground software. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the infrastructure we build meets the rigorous demands of VLEO operations.
You will take a hands-on approach to problem-solving, leveraging your expertise to optimize optical systems and ensure they perform effectively in the unique conditions of VLEO. Your role will involve analyzing data from satellite missions to inform design improvements and operational strategies, ultimately contributing to the success of our customers' missions.
You will also play a key role in scaling production for large constellations of satellites, ensuring that our processes are efficient and capable of meeting the growing demands of the market. Your insights will help shape the future of satellite technology, and you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation within the team.
What we offer
At Albedo, you will be part of a pioneering team that is redefining satellite operations in VLEO. We offer a collaborative work environment where your contributions will have a direct impact on our trajectory as a company. You will work in-person at our Broomfield, CO headquarters, where we prioritize team productivity and engagement.
We believe in the power of first-principles thinking and encourage our employees to take calculated risks and learn quickly. As part of the Bedo 100, you will have the chance to shape the future of satellite technology and contribute to missions that matter. We value builders who are excited about creating new possibilities in space and are committed to making a difference.
Join us at Albedo and be part of a team that is making VLEO mainstream, building the infrastructure that will enable every satellite mission to thrive in this new orbital domain.
