Job Description
Who you are
You have extensive experience in planning and managing large-scale construction programs — you've successfully led projects from concept through execution, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the process. Your background includes a firm understanding of engineering principles, program management, and contract administration, which allows you to navigate complex construction environments effectively.
You are a proven technical leader who thrives in collaborative settings — you enjoy working with diverse teams, including Real Estate, Operations, and Design, to bring fulfillment center designs to life. Your ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders ensures that all aspects of the project are considered and executed seamlessly.
Your experience includes managing approvals and permissions from building landlords — you understand the importance of compliance and have a track record of successfully obtaining necessary approvals to keep projects on schedule. You are detail-oriented and proactive in identifying potential roadblocks before they become issues.
You are comfortable with travel, as this role requires approximately 60% travel — you are willing to visit different corporate Amazon facilities across multiple states to oversee projects and ensure they meet Amazon's high standards. Your adaptability and willingness to engage with teams on-site make you an asset to any project.
Desirable
Experience in logistics or supply chain construction projects would be a plus — you understand the unique challenges that come with building facilities designed for rapid and rural logistics. Familiarity with the Request for Proposals (RFP) process and contractor selection will enhance your ability to lead projects effectively.
What you'll do
As the Construction Manager for Amazon's Rapid and Rural Logistics team, you will lead the planning and execution of large-scale construction programs — your role will involve coordinating with designers, building teams, and cost estimators to establish project budgets, scopes, and schedules. You will be responsible for managing the RFP process, vetting contractor proposals, and fostering the selection of design-build contractors.
You will assist in obtaining the necessary information and decisions from Amazon to complete construction drawings — your attention to detail will ensure that all project specifications are met. Additionally, you will act as the primary Amazon representative on-site, facilitating communication between internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
Your responsibilities will also include managing approvals and permissions needed from building landlords — you will navigate the complexities of construction regulations and ensure compliance with all necessary requirements. Your ability to coordinate with various functional teams, including IT, Safety, and Operations, will be crucial in delivering successful projects.
What we offer
Amazon offers a competitive salary range for this role, with annual compensation between $77,400 and $135,400 depending on experience and location. You will also have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives in our team.
