Overview

Amazon is hiring an Engineering Operations Technician to maintain mission-critical technology infrastructure. You'll work with electrical and mechanical systems to ensure high uptime for AWS data centers. This position requires hands-on troubleshooting skills and a background in engineering.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems — your hands-on experience allows you to troubleshoot complex equipment effectively. You understand the importance of maintaining mission-critical technology infrastructure and are committed to ensuring seamless operations. You thrive in environments where you can apply your technical skills to solve real-world problems, and you are eager to contribute to a team that supports global digital experiences.

You have a background in engineering, ideally with experience in data center operations or similar fields — your knowledge of electrical systems, including three-phase electrical systems, UPSs, and generators, equips you to handle the challenges of maintaining critical facilities. You are detail-oriented and understand the significance of uptime in technology infrastructure, aiming for the highest standards in your work.

You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment — you communicate effectively with colleagues and are always willing to share your insights and learn from others. Your passion for technology drives you to stay updated on the latest advancements in the field, and you are excited about the opportunity to work with cutting-edge infrastructure.

Desirable

Experience with AWS infrastructure or similar cloud services would be a plus — you are familiar with the operational aspects of data centers and understand how they contribute to overall service delivery. Any additional certifications or training in electrical or mechanical engineering will enhance your candidacy.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of our data centers — your responsibilities will include troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently. You will work with stand-by diesel generators, switch gear, and cooling systems, contributing to our goal of achieving 99.999% uptime.

You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and specialists, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance operational efficiency — your role will involve hands-on work, where you will diagnose issues and implement solutions swiftly. You will also participate in routine maintenance and inspections, ensuring that all equipment meets safety and operational standards.

Your work will directly impact the reliability of our services, as you will be responsible for keeping the infrastructure running smoothly — you will monitor systems, respond to alerts, and take proactive measures to prevent downtime. You will also document your findings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

What we offer

At Amazon, we provide a supportive work environment where you can grow your skills and advance your career — you will have access to training and development opportunities that will help you enhance your technical expertise. We value diversity and encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement.

You will be part of a team that is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence — your contributions will be recognized and rewarded as we work together to support our global infrastructure. We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, ensuring that you are well taken care of as you embark on this exciting journey with us.
