Overview

Amazon is hiring a Data Center Critical Facilities Technician to operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment in their data centers. You'll work with systems like generators, UPSs, and building automation. This position requires hands-on troubleshooting skills and a commitment to safety.

Job Description

Who you are

You are a hands-on technician with a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems — you thrive in environments where you can troubleshoot and operate complex equipment like diesel generators and UPS systems. You understand the importance of safety procedures and are committed to adhering to them while performing your duties.

You have experience with building automation systems and HVAC maintenance — your skills allow you to perform routine checks and maintenance tasks effectively, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly. You are detail-oriented and capable of taking daily operational readings to monitor equipment performance.

You are comfortable working in a shift-based environment, including 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules — your flexibility allows you to respond to off-hour emergency calls as needed. You are a US citizen and are prepared to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

What you'll do

In this role, you will operate and maintain various mechanical and electrical systems within the data center, including emergency generators and fire/life safety equipment. You will troubleshoot facility and rack-level events, ensuring that all issues are resolved within internal SLAs. Your responsibilities will also include performing limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes and rack power installations.

You will provide support to Data Center Operations technicians and conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures — your analytical skills will help identify issues and implement solutions effectively. You will utilize internal CMMS to manage workflows and spare part inventory, ensuring that all necessary resources are available for maintenance tasks.

As part of your role, you will supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance, ensuring that all work meets Amazon's high standards. You will also take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds, logging important data such as temperatures and voltages.

What we offer

Amazon offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $37.00 to $65.00, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. You will have access to a 401(k) matching program, paid time off, and parental leave. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives in our team.
