Overview

Amazon is hiring an Operations Manager for their Sort Center in Tokyo. You'll oversee the management of logistics operations, collaborating with various stakeholders to improve efficiency and service levels. This position requires strong analytical and project management skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a background in operations management with at least 3 years of experience in logistics or supply chain environments — you've successfully managed teams and projects, ensuring operational efficiency and safety. Your analytical skills allow you to identify issues and propose effective solutions, and you excel in communicating with both internal and external stakeholders to drive results.

You possess a strong understanding of logistics operations and have experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PL) — you know how to design and implement operational processes that enhance service levels and reduce costs. Your ability to analyze data and metrics enables you to make informed decisions that positively impact the business.

You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities — your proactive approach ensures that you stay ahead of challenges and maintain high standards of service. You value collaboration and are skilled at building relationships with various teams, including finance, system development, and external partners.

Desirable

Experience in a high-growth company like Amazon is a plus, as is familiarity with project management tools and methodologies. A background in data-driven decision-making will help you thrive in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will manage the operations of multiple Sort Centers across Japan, focusing on improving safety, accuracy, and efficiency. You will analyze operational metrics and work with teams to implement improvements, ensuring that service levels meet customer expectations. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with various departments, including business planning, transportation network operations, and finance, to align on operational goals.

You will lead projects aimed at optimizing the Sort Center layout and operations, collaborating with 3PL partners to design effective workflows. Your role will involve regular communication with stakeholders to ensure project timelines are met and objectives are achieved. You will also be responsible for identifying and addressing operational challenges, proposing solutions that enhance overall performance.
