Who you are
You have a strong background in thermal design engineering, particularly in the context of spacecraft systems. Your experience includes performing detailed thermal analysis and providing critical input to vehicle architects and subsystem leads. You are proficient in using tools like AutoCAD and MATLAB for thermal modeling and analysis, and you have a solid understanding of thermal management principles in aerospace applications.
You possess excellent analytical skills and can quickly adapt to new challenges, ensuring that you deliver high-quality work efficiently. Your ability to develop automated scripts in Python for rapid analysis updates demonstrates your technical proficiency and innovative approach to problem-solving. You are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, meeting the export control requirements for this role.
What you'll do
In this role, you will support extensive architectural trades with preliminary thermal analysis on spacecraft and subsystems, ensuring they meet orbital operational conditions. You will perform both conceptual and detailed analysis of Bus and Payload subsystems, components, and mechanisms, contributing to the overall design and functionality of the satellite network.
You will develop automated scripts that enable rapid analysis updates, accommodating various trades such as power states and duty cycles. Your responsibilities will also include designing, analyzing, and selecting heat pipes for bus and payload components, ensuring optimal thermal performance in all operational scenarios.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be key, as you will provide essential thermal-related input and recommendations to vehicle architects and subsystem leads. Your work will directly impact the success of the Amazon Leo project, which aims to deliver reliable internet connectivity to underserved areas.
