Who you are
You have a strong background in systems engineering with a focus on automation and operations — your experience includes overseeing the deployment and management of high-availability cloud services. You are familiar with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and Lambda, and understand the intricacies of utility computing. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with global teams, influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology. You are comfortable participating in on-call rotations to resolve incidents, ensuring that services remain reliable and efficient.
Desirable
Experience with the European market and regulations is a plus, as is familiarity with the latest trends in cloud computing and utility services. You are proactive in seeking improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of cloud services. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders sets you apart.
What you'll do
In this role, you will spearhead the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud, collaborating closely with AWS teams globally. You will oversee the development and operations teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services exclusively for EU customers. Your responsibilities will include enhancing day-to-day operations and ensuring that the services meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AWS services in Europe, contributing to the strategic direction of the cloud offerings.
You will also be involved in incident management, participating in on-call rotations to address any out-of-hours incidents that may arise. Your goal is to deliver scalable services that provide a high-availability experience for customers, aligning with AWS' commitment to customer satisfaction and continual innovation. You will work on improving operational processes and implementing best practices to ensure the success of the ESC initiative.
