You are an experienced systems engineer with a strong background in automation and operations — you have a proven track record of delivering high-availability services and are comfortable working with cloud technologies. You understand the intricacies of utility computing and are eager to contribute to the launch of innovative projects like the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC).

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with global teams to enhance operations and ensure the reliability of services. Your experience includes overseeing complex systems and you are adept at improving performance, availability, and efficiency in cloud environments.

You are proactive in your approach to problem-solving and are willing to participate in on-call rotations to address incidents as they arise. Your technical expertise allows you to influence the evolution of AWS services and technology, ensuring they meet the needs of EU customers.

Desirable

Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, DynamoDB, and Lambda is highly desirable. Familiarity with automation tools and practices will set you apart as a candidate who can drive operational excellence in the ESC initiative.

What you'll do

In this role, you will spearhead the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud, collaborating with technology leaders to build and lead operations and development teams. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ESC, ensuring that services are delivered with high availability and reliability.

You will work closely with global AWS teams to influence the development of AWS services, contributing to enhancements that improve latency, performance, and efficiency. Your role will involve analyzing operational metrics and implementing strategies to optimize service delivery for EU customers.

As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will engage in continuous improvement efforts, identifying areas for operational enhancements and implementing best practices. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
