Job Description

Who you are

You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in CPU physical design, demonstrating a strong understanding of RTL-to-GDS design convergence. Your expertise in logic synthesis and place-and-route tools has enabled you to achieve ambitious power, performance, and area (PPA) goals in your previous roles. You are adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring that all aspects of CPU design, including floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability, are optimized for success.

Your technical skills include proficiency in industry-standard synthesis and PNR tools, and you have a solid background in improving silicon yield through effective backend flow management. You are comfortable working closely with internal CAD and PD methodology teams, contributing to the development and optimization of tool features that enhance CPU design processes.

You possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, and your strong analytical skills allow you to tackle complex design challenges effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about driving innovation in CPU design.

Desirable

Experience with custom IP teams and defining memory macros or library standard cells is a plus. Familiarity with advanced physical design methodologies and tools will further enhance your candidacy.

What you'll do

As a Senior CPU Physical Design Engineer at Apple, you will lead the block-level physical design delivery, ensuring that all backend flows meet electrical requirements and contribute to improved silicon yield. You will drive the RTL-to-GDS design convergence process, utilizing your expertise in logic synthesis and place-and-route tools to achieve ambitious PPA goals.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address critical aspects of CPU design, including floorplan optimization, timing analysis, power management, reliability assessments, and testability considerations. Your role will involve working with custom IP teams to define and co-optimize memory macros and library standard cells, ensuring that design goals are met efficiently.

You will also participate in the adoption of new tool features and optimizations, working alongside internal CAD and PD methodology teams to enhance the overall design process. Your contributions will play a vital role in delivering groundbreaking Apple products that redefine industries.
