Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years of experience in CPU physical design. Your background includes working with logic synthesis and place-and-route tools, and you have a strong understanding of backend flows and electrical requirements. You are skilled in C and C++, and you have experience with Linux environments. Your communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that design goals are met.
Desirable
Experience with custom IP teams and memory macros is a plus. Familiarity with industry-standard synthesis and PNR tool features will help you excel in this role. You are passionate about improving silicon yield and have a keen interest in the latest technologies in CPU design.
What you'll do
As a CPU Physical Design Engineer at Apple, you will be responsible for driving RTL-to-GDS design convergence through logic synthesis and place-and-route tools. You will work closely with internal CAD and PD methodology teams to optimize tool features and ensure their adoption in CPU design. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to address aspects of CPU floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability. You will also be responsible for block-level physical design delivery, ensuring that all backend flows and electrical requirements are met while striving to improve silicon yield.
