Apple is hiring a Touch/Force/Motion Hardware - Sensing System Architect to develop next-generation sensing hardware systems for innovative devices. Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant industry experience. You possess a deep understanding of electrical engineering and transducer physics, which allows you to design complex sensing systems effectively. Your experience includes modeling complex multi-physics and electrical systems, and you are familiar with block-level circuit simulation. You are skilled in both analog and digital signal processing techniques, which are essential for developing robust sensing systems.

You are resourceful and capable of independently converging technical issues while aligning efforts across multidisciplinary teams. Your ability to clarify ambiguous design spaces helps accelerate progress within hardware teams. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to contribute to the development of state-of-the-art technologies that enhance user interactions with Apple products.

Desirable

A Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred, along with project or coursework experience specifically in designing sensing systems. Familiarity with calibration needs and back-end algorithms will be advantageous in this role. You are also comfortable working with extensive modeling and simulations, which are critical for delivering architecture packages that meet the demands of hardware teams.

What you'll do

As a Sensing System Architect, you will be responsible for architecting the end-to-end sensing system for various Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods. Your role involves defining sensor and ASIC requirements, as well as ensuring that the systems are power- and area-optimized for large-scale production. You will deliver comprehensive architecture packages that guide hardware teams in executing their designs effectively.

You will collaborate closely with engineering partners to address technical challenges and ensure that the sensing systems align with Apple's product roadmaps. Your expertise in modeling and simulation will be crucial in validating design choices and optimizing system performance. You will also engage in cross-functional discussions to ensure that all aspects of the sensing architecture are well-integrated and meet user interaction goals.
