Overview

Apple is hiring a CPU Physical Design and Integration Engineer to participate in the physical design, integration, and verification of high-performance processors. You'll work on chip-level place and route, collaborating with various teams to ensure successful product delivery.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in CPU physical design and integration, with experience in full chip floorplan, area optimizations, and block partitioning. Your expertise includes owning chip-level place and route (PnR) and constructing final CPU layout databases. You are familiar with evaluating route ability, power grid, and technology bring-up, and you have a proven track record of driving custom layout integration and IPs for CPUs.

You thrive in collaborative environments and have experience working with Implementation and CAD teams throughout the entire chip design cycle. Your attention to detail ensures that you drive signoff closure for tapeout effectively. You understand the importance of meeting IP technical and delivery requirements, and you are committed to delivering high-quality products that meet customer expectations.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be at the center of a processor design effort, collaborating across domains to ensure the successful delivery of functional products. You will participate in the physical design, integration, and verification of high-performance, low-power processors. Your responsibilities will include full chip floorplan, area optimizations, block partitioning, and pin placements. You will own the chip-level place and route (PnR) and construct the final CPU layout database while ensuring thorough verification.

You will evaluate route ability and power grid, driving technology bring-up and custom layout integration for CPUs. Working closely with the Implementation and CAD teams, you will navigate the entire chip design cycle to drive signoff closure for tapeout. Additionally, you will collaborate with the SOC team to meet IP technical and delivery requirements, ensuring that all aspects of the design process align with project goals.

What we offer

At Apple, you will be part of a team that values innovation and collaboration. We offer a dynamic work environment where your contributions will have a significant impact on the development of groundbreaking products.
