Job Description

Hardware Engineering is seeking a seasoned Engineering Program Specialist to execute the acquisition of R&D equipment, software, and services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in complex procurement operations while directly supporting the teams creating Apple’s innovative products. We’re looking for a resourceful individual with a proven ability to operate in a complex, often ambiguous, fast-paced environment. This role will be critical in equipping R&D engineering teams with the tools they need to do their best work. You’ll thrive in this position if you’re detail-oriented, enjoy process optimization, and want to build strong cross-functional relationships in a dynamic technical environment.

Description

As an Engineering Program Specialist on the team, you will be responsible for managing Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) activities from order processing through fulfillment, ensuring a seamless and compliant process that supports R&D operations. You’ll partner closely with engineering, procurement, finance, and vendor teams to manage the end-to-end acquisition of critical tools and resources, maintaining transparency and alignment across all stages of the procurement lifecycle. You’ll serve as a key liaison between vendors, engineering teams, and finance partners—bridging the gap between policy adherence and the practical needs of product development. This role requires development of a deep understanding of purchasing policies, logistics, and compliance processes to ensure that engineering requirements are met efficiently and responsibly. By combining attention to detail with strong communication and problem-solving skills, you’ll help balance operational integrity with the agility required to drive innovation.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of professional experience in program coordination, procurement, or related operational roles within engineering or technical environments. Hands-on experience creating PRs, converting them to POs, and managing workflows in systems. Experience managing end-to-end purchase-to-pay processes (at a standard, non-complex level). Ability to translate engineering and business requirements into clear specifications (at a basic/operational level) Strong process-oriented mindset with a proven ability to drive consistency, efficiency, and repeatability across complex workflows. Excellent prioritization and time management skills, capable of balancing multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor technical and procedural information to diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with vendors and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment and successful execution of shared goals. Quick learner with the ability to rapidly adopt and proficiently use new tools, systems, and technologies to support evolving business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Background in project management Direct experience handling sensitive and confidential information with integrity, discretion, and secrecy.

Responsibilities

Create and submit PRs (Purchase Requisitions) in compliance with complex capitalization and organizational policies. Coordinate proactively with vendors to track orders, resolve logistical challenges, and ensure timely delivery of materials. Maintain and execute daily workflows using internal tools (e.g., Acquire, eApproval, Mail) to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Fixed Assets) to align on process updates and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) changes. Identify potential process inefficiencies, risks, or blockers and propose process optimizations and actionable solutions that enhance workflow efficiency and user experience. Maintain comprehensive documentation and monitor process adherence to support audit readiness and compliance requirements.
