Overview
Asana is hiring a Senior Platform Reliability Engineer to build foundational systems that ensure platform reliability. You'll work with technologies like AWS, Kubernetes, and MySQL to enhance system performance and stability. This role requires strong software engineering skills and a deep understanding of system behavior under load.
Job Description
Who you are
You are a seasoned engineer with a strong background in software engineering and a deep understanding of system behavior under load and stress. You thrive on building systems that prioritize reliability, ensuring that Asana's platform remains resilient by design rather than patching issues after they arise. Your experience includes working with foundational systems like load shedding, traffic management, and circuit breakers, which are critical for maintaining stability and performance across the infrastructure.
You have a collaborative mindset and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams, particularly infrastructure teams in different locations. Your ability to communicate effectively and coordinate efforts across time zones makes you an asset to any team. You are eager to contribute to a new team focused on platform reliability, helping to shape its direction and impact.
Desirable
Experience with cloud infrastructure and a passion for building resilient systems are highly valued. Familiarity with modern development practices and tools will set you apart as a candidate who can contribute to Asana's mission of creating a reliable platform.
What you'll do
In this role, you will take ownership of reliability as a first-class concern, building core platform systems that protect Asana under real-world load. You will design and implement systems for load shedding, rate limiting, circuit breakers, and traffic controls, ensuring that reliability is built into the platform from the ground up. Your work will involve deep collaboration with other platform teams to integrate reliability features seamlessly into existing systems.
You will also be responsible for monitoring system performance and making data-driven decisions to enhance reliability. This includes analyzing system behavior under stress and implementing improvements based on your findings. Your contributions will directly impact the stability and performance of Asana's infrastructure, making it a critical role within the organization.
What we offer
Asana provides a supportive work environment where you can grow your skills and advance your career. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with talented engineers who share your commitment to building reliable systems. The company values work-life balance, offering reasonable hours and a culture that promotes collaboration without the stress of constant time zone challenges. Join us in making a positive impact on how teams work together globally.
