Overview
Astranis is seeking an Earth Stations Engineer to support the design, integration, and testing of earth stations. You'll work with RF/Antenna systems and digital equipment like modems and SDRs in San Francisco.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in engineering, particularly in the design and integration of communication systems. Your experience includes working with RF and antenna technologies, as well as digital equipment such as modems and software-defined radios (SDRs). You are adept at troubleshooting and have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all systems function optimally. You thrive in collaborative environments, interfacing with multiple disciplines including mission operations, avionics, and logistics. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders sets you apart. You are committed to delivering high-quality results and are passionate about advancing satellite communications technology.
Desirable
Experience with ground station communication systems and familiarity with deployment planning and coordination would be beneficial. Knowledge of satellite communications and the specific requirements for uptime and data security is a plus. You are also open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance your work.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of earth stations both in the lab and in the field. You will design and build ground station communication systems through all stages of deployment, including site surveys, system design reviews, hardware selection, and integration. Your role will involve end-to-end testing and activation of these systems, ensuring they meet the stringent requirements of our customers. You will support site selection and deployment planning, coordinating with various teams to ensure successful implementation. Additionally, you will own the build, test, train, and handoff processes to customers, ensuring they are fully equipped to operate the systems you help create. Your work will directly contribute to Astranis's mission of expanding humanity's reach into the solar system through advanced satellite technology.
