Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in embedded software engineering, with a strong background in developing flight software for aerospace applications. Your expertise in C and C++ allows you to write efficient and reliable code that meets stringent performance requirements. You are familiar with Embedded Linux and understand the complexities of working with hardware in a space environment. You enjoy mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of software and hardware.
You have a solid understanding of software architecture and design principles, enabling you to make informed decisions about high-level design choices. Your experience includes developing firmware for control boards and working on systems that require high reliability and security. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for solving complex problems in innovative ways. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to contribute to both commercial and government programs.
Desirable
Experience with satellite communications or aerospace systems is a plus. Familiarity with real-time operating systems and hardware interfaces will enhance your ability to succeed in this role. You are open to learning new technologies and adapting to the evolving needs of the industry.
What you'll do
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Astranis, you will be responsible for developing software for the flight computer and Earth Stations Hub of our satellites. You will work closely with the Network Software team to ensure that the software you create meets the operational requirements of our spacecraft. Your role will involve architecture and design decisions, as well as hands-on coding and testing of embedded systems.
You will mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support as they develop their skills in embedded software development. Collaboration with hardware teams will be essential to ensure that the software you implement works seamlessly with the hardware components of the satellites. You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development processes.
Your contributions will directly impact the success of our satellite missions, as you help to create reliable and secure systems that meet the needs of our sophisticated customers.
