Who you are
You are an experienced U.S. Payments Regulatory Counsel with a strong background in providing legal and regulatory advice on payments and financial services. You have a deep understanding of U.S. regulatory regimes relevant to payments, including money transmission and licensing requirements. Your expertise extends to interpreting and applying regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, AML/KYC, and OFAC sanctions. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance while fostering innovation.
You possess excellent analytical skills, allowing you to creatively solve regulatory challenges in the fast-evolving payments landscape. Your ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively makes you a trusted advisor to various stakeholders, including product teams and compliance officers. You are passionate about the intersection of law and technology, particularly in the financial sector, and are eager to contribute to shaping the future of money.
What you'll do
In this role, you will provide legal and regulatory guidance on a range of payments and financial services products, including merchant payments and peer-to-peer transfer services. You will interpret and apply relevant U.S. regulatory frameworks, ensuring that Block's innovative solutions comply with all applicable laws. You will collaborate with Compliance, Policy, Risk, and Engineering teams to address regulatory challenges and support the development of new products and features.
You will be responsible for staying up-to-date with changes in the regulatory landscape and advising the company on potential impacts. Your role will involve drafting and reviewing legal documents, providing training to internal teams on compliance matters, and representing Block in discussions with regulatory agencies. You will play a key role in fostering a culture of compliance while supporting the company's mission of economic empowerment.
