Overview
Block is hiring a Failure Analysis Technical Program Manager to build scalable processes and conduct hands-on hardware analysis. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to drive quality investigations and monitor field performance.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in technical program management with a focus on hardware analysis — your experience includes setting up failure analysis plans and executing them effectively. You possess hands-on skills to disassemble returned hardware and document findings meticulously, ensuring that every detail is captured for quality investigations. Your problem-solving abilities are complemented by a keen analytical mindset, allowing you to drive data-driven decisions in a collaborative environment.
You thrive in cross-functional teams, working closely with mechanical and electrical design engineers, quality engineering, product management, and operations. Your communication skills enable you to articulate complex technical issues clearly, fostering collaboration and understanding among diverse stakeholders. You are passionate about building scalable processes that enhance product quality and performance, and you are committed to continuous improvement in all aspects of your work.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own the failure analysis process, from setting up plans to executing product disassembly and monitoring field returns for new issues. You will collaborate with various teams to understand field performance and prioritize new issues, ensuring that quality investigations are thorough and effective. Your hands-on work in the Oakland Hardware Lab will involve at least 2-3 days per week, where you will engage directly with hardware to identify and resolve issues.
You will drive quality investigations that require technical problem-solving and data analysis, reporting directly to the Hardware Failure Analysis Lead. Your role will involve documenting findings and communicating insights to the broader team, contributing to the overall improvement of product quality. You will also be responsible for identifying trends in field returns and collaborating with engineering teams to address any emerging issues proactively.
What we offer
At Block, you will be part of a mission-driven company focused on economic empowerment. We offer a collaborative work environment where diverse perspectives are valued, and every challenge is seen as an opportunity for growth. You will have the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to innovative solutions that impact the financial system. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we believe in the potential of diverse backgrounds to drive success.
