Who you are
You have a proven track record in technical roles with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian — your deep knowledge of the Linux system allows you to tackle low-level debugging and complex technical challenges effectively. You possess excellent time management skills and critical thinking abilities, which enable you to prioritize tasks and support your team's career growth. Your management experience has equipped you with the skills to recruit, motivate, and mentor your team, ensuring they succeed in delivering quality products.
You are committed to development and testing methodologies, maintaining high standards of code quality. Your ability to communicate effectively with OEMs, ODMs, and other stakeholders is crucial in resolving technical challenges and prioritizing customer requests globally. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are ready to coordinate with various teams, including project managers, QA, and certification management.
Desirable
A Bachelor's degree in STEM, preferably in computer science or software engineering, is essential for this role. Experience with management responsibilities is a plus, as is a commitment to fostering a collaborative team environment.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will lead and manage the software engineering team to deliver OEM enablement projects. You will set goals with your team, prioritize tasks, and identify and measure team health indicators to maximize results. Your role involves monitoring projects from kickoff to post-mortem, handling escalations, and ensuring that your team is aligned with the company's objectives.
You will collaborate closely with product engineering teams, including Desktop, Foundations, Kernel, and Security, to provide leadership for methodologies, strategies, standards, tools, and best practices. Your ability to communicate and resolve technical challenges with OEMs and ODMs will be vital in ensuring successful project outcomes. You will also be responsible for supporting your team's career growth and fostering an environment where they can thrive.
