Who you are

You have a proven track record in technical roles with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian β€” your deep knowledge of the Linux system allows you to tackle low-level debugging and complex technical challenges effectively. You possess excellent time management skills and critical thinking abilities, which enable you to prioritize tasks and support your team's career growth. Your experience in management equips you to recruit, motivate, and mentor your team, ensuring they deliver quality products.

You hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field, ideally in computer science or software engineering. Your commitment to development and testing methodologies ensures that you maintain high standards of code quality and project execution. You are adept at coordinating with various stakeholders, including project managers, QA, and certification management, to monitor projects from kickoff to post-mortem.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will lead and manage the software engineering team responsible for delivering OEM enablement projects. You will set goals with your team, prioritize tasks, and identify and measure team health indicators to maximize results. Your role will involve communicating with OEMs, ODMs, and other partners to understand and resolve technical challenges, ensuring customer requests are prioritized globally.

You will collaborate closely with product engineering teams, including Desktop, Foundations, Kernel, and Security, to provide leadership for methodologies, strategies, standards, tools, and best practices. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring project progress, handling escalations, and ensuring that your team is equipped to succeed in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to travel to the EU, USA, China, and Taiwan as needed, once travel restrictions are lifted.
