Security Engineer • Senior

Who you are

You have extensive experience in security operations and engineering, ideally with a background in software development. Your expertise includes traditional SOC duties such as security monitoring and threat hunting, as well as security engineering to assess and protect platforms and products. You are comfortable building custom tools and platforms, and you have a strong understanding of site reliability engineering practices to deploy and automate security tools effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to mentor junior team members while contributing to the open source ecosystem.

Desirable

Experience presenting at industry conferences or sharing threat intelligence with the community is a plus. A history of remarkable achievements in security operations or software engineering will set you apart as a candidate. You are adaptable and willing to learn new skills, and you have a passion for improving security practices within an organization.

What you'll do

In this role, you will provide operational and engineering leadership to the Security Operations team. You will implement and evolve Canonical’s Security Operations Center, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of security and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing security software and platforms that enhance the security posture of Canonical’s digital estate. You will monitor for, identify, respond to, and remediate security incidents, working closely with other teams to ensure a cohesive security strategy. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the open source community by publishing security software and sharing insights with peers.
