Overview

Databricks is seeking a Finance Data & Systems Manager to enhance financial reporting and automate workflows. You'll leverage SQL and Python to build scalable solutions across various finance functions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills.

Who you are

You have a strong background in finance and accounting, combined with technical proficiency in SQL and Python. Your experience enables you to automate workflows and improve financial reporting processes effectively. You are detail-oriented and collaborative, capable of building scalable solutions across various finance functions such as GL Accounting, Payroll, Equity, Commissions, and Tax.

You possess a deep understanding of data management and are skilled in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines. Your expertise in Databricks SQL and Python / PySpark allows you to automate core financial processes, including journal-entry creation and accrual calculations. You are familiar with orchestrating jobs using Databricks Jobs and Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines, ensuring data validation and reconciliation.

You are adept at building reports and dashboards for various reporting needs, including monthly, quarterly, and executive-level insights. Your ability to publish curated finance datasets and enforce data access policies demonstrates your commitment to data governance and security. You understand the importance of documenting data lineage and business logic, ensuring clarity and compliance across the organization.

You are experienced in enforcing Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines, which are essential for satisfying SOX change management requirements. Your collaborative nature allows you to partner effectively with IT and Engineering teams, providing requirements and performing user acceptance testing (UAT) for new systems and processes.

Desirable

Experience with financial close processes and the ability to resolve data-related issues promptly is a plus. Familiarity with compliance requirements and the ability to navigate complex data environments will enhance your effectiveness in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and develop scalable financial data solutions that streamline processes and enhance reporting accuracy. You will work closely with the Finance Data and Systems Director to implement best practices in data management and automation. Your responsibilities will include automating journal-entry creation and accrual calculations, which are critical for timely financial reporting.

You will orchestrate jobs using Databricks Jobs and Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines, ensuring that data validation and reconciliation processes are robust and reliable. Your role will also involve building comprehensive reports and dashboards that cater to various stakeholders, providing insights that drive decision-making.

You will publish curated finance datasets, enabling self-service analytics while enforcing row-level security and data access policies. Documenting data lineage, model definitions, and business logic will be a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all data processes are transparent and well-understood.

You will enforce Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with SOX requirements. Your support during financial close processes will be crucial, as you will help resolve any data-related issues that arise, ensuring a smooth and timely close.

Partnering with IT and Engineering, you will gather requirements for new systems and processes, conducting UAT to ensure that solutions meet business needs. Your proactive approach will help establish coding and data standards that enhance the overall efficiency of the finance team.
