Who you are
You have extensive experience in legal counsel, particularly in negotiating complex SaaS agreements with public sector customers. Your background includes a deep understanding of federal and state procurement laws, including FAR/DFARS, and you are well-versed in cybersecurity requirements and compliance obligations. You excel at providing practical and actionable legal advice to internal stakeholders, ensuring that all negotiations align with company policies and strategies.
You are a trusted advisor who collaborates closely with sales and go-to-market teams, as well as privacy and compliance departments. Your ability to influence company policies impacting public sector customers is a key strength, and you thrive in environments where you can leverage your expertise in cutting-edge areas such as privacy, security, and AI/ML. You understand the importance of building strong relationships and fostering a collaborative office culture.
Desirable
Experience in the SaaS industry is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the unique challenges and regulations that govern public sector contracts. You may also have a background in technology law or experience working with cross-functional teams in a hybrid workplace.
What you'll do
In this role, you will independently negotiate and close complex SaaS agreements with public sector customers and their partners. You will exercise keen judgment on risk tradeoffs and escalation decisions, ensuring that all agreements are beneficial for both the company and its clients. As the primary legal advisor to U.S. public sector go-to-market teams, you will help shape deal strategy and negotiation posture across complex and high-stakes opportunities.
You will counsel internal teams on federal and state procurement laws and regulations, guiding them through the intricacies of compliance obligations and data handling requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in advancing Datadogβs U.S. public sector commercial strategy, and you will work closely with legal leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to influence company policies that impact public sector customers.
You will also gain exposure to cutting-edge SaaS areas, including privacy, security, and AI/ML, allowing you to stay at the forefront of legal developments in these fields. Your role will involve not only legal negotiations but also strategic planning and collaboration with various departments to ensure that all aspects of the business align with legal requirements.
