Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in mechanical design and structural analysis, with at least 5 years of experience in the field. Your expertise in CAD allows you to create detailed models and drawings, ensuring that your designs are both functional and manufacturable. You are proficient in conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate the performance and robustness of mechanical systems, and you have a proven track record of delivering high-quality prototypes in fast-paced production environments. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate mechanical solutions into larger systems. You are excited about the opportunity to lead the design and testing of innovative mechanical systems that enhance last-mile logistics.
Desirable
Experience with robotics or automation technologies is a plus, as is familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques. You have a passion for problem-solving and a keen interest in the latest advancements in mechanical engineering. Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively makes you a valuable team member.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the design, analysis, prototyping, and testing of mechanical systems and components for unmanned platforms. You will own subsystems from concept through production, which includes CAD modeling, drawing generation, and documentation. Your responsibilities will involve conducting and interpreting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure mechanical robustness and performance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical and software components, ensuring that all systems work seamlessly together. You will also be involved in the testing phase, where you will validate designs against performance criteria and iterate on solutions based on test results. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of DoorDash's logistics operations.
