Overview

Esri is hiring a Communications Manager to lead their in-house media relations team and develop strong relationships with media outlets. You'll oversee communication strategies and manage a team to enhance Esri's public relations efforts.

Who you are

You have a strong background in media relations and public relations, with a proven track record of developing and nurturing relationships with editors and reporters across various media outlets. Your leadership skills are evident as you guide your team to achieve media success, navigating the evolving landscape of blogs, podcasts, and industry publications. You possess a deep understanding of GIS technology, allowing you to effectively communicate Esri's mission to diverse audiences. You are passionate about fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages innovation and employee engagement.

You have experience in overseeing the writing of press releases and other communication documents, ensuring that they align with Esri's strategic goals. Your networking skills enable you to identify subject matter experts within the organization and the GIS community, facilitating impactful press interviews and media opportunities. You are committed to coaching and mentoring your team, focusing on their career development and performance management to drive results.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the media relations team at Esri, serving as the main point of contact for all public relations inquiries and activities. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Influence Marketing to develop and implement comprehensive media relations and external communications strategies. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the creation and management of communication plans for various events, campaigns, and initiatives across the global organization. You will represent PR at Esri events and strategic initiatives, ensuring that the company's messaging is consistent and impactful.

You will identify opportunities for press interviews and manage the logistics surrounding them, leveraging your strong networking skills to connect with key individuals within Esri and the GIS user community. As a leader, you will coach and mentor your media relations team, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration. You will be responsible for onboarding new team members and supporting their professional growth, while also promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace.
