Overview
Exa is hiring a Software Engineer to build large-scale infrastructure for a new search engine. You'll work with Rust, Kubernetes, and AWS to develop high-performance systems. This position requires experience in designing and operating large-scale infrastructure.
Job Description
Who you are
You have experience designing and operating large-scale infrastructure, particularly with GPU clusters or Kubernetes clusters, and you bring an obsessive mindset focused on reliability, observability, and optimization across the entire stack. You thrive in environments where you can build the machine that builds the machine, and you are excited about the challenges that come with developing high-performance systems. Your background includes working with cloud batch job systems, and you are eager to contribute to the development of cutting-edge technology.
You have a strong understanding of GPU cluster orchestration and are familiar with tools like Kubernetes. Your experience includes scaling AWS batch job systems to handle map-reduce jobs over tens of thousands of machines. You are passionate about observability and have a track record of building observability tooling that enhances production systems. You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys tackling complex challenges and optimizing system performance.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineer at Exa, you will be part of the Infrastructure Team responsible for building the underlying tooling and infrastructure that powers all of Exa's systems. You will work on projects such as building Kubernetes orchestration for a $20 million GPU cluster and designing GPU scheduling software to maximize cluster utilization. Your role will involve collaborating with other engineers to ensure that the infrastructure is reliable and efficient, enabling the engineering organization to move as fast as possible.
You will also be tasked with scaling our AWS batch job system to handle extensive map-reduce jobs, ensuring that our infrastructure can support the demands of a rapidly growing search engine. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of our systems, and you will have the opportunity to innovate and implement best practices in observability and optimization.
What we offer
This is an in-person opportunity in San Francisco, where you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology. We are open to sponsoring international candidates, including those on STEM OPT, OPT, H1B, O1, and E3 visas. You will have the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to a project that aims to revolutionize AI applications through a powerful search engine.
