Who you are
You are a student pursuing a degree in Industrial Design or a related field, eager to apply your skills in a real-world setting. You have a strong portfolio showcasing your design concepts and visual communication abilities — your work reflects a keen understanding of user-centered design principles. You are proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360, and you have experience with prototyping tools like Blender or Photoshop. You thrive in collaborative environments and are excited to work alongside engineers and scientists to create innovative products. You are detail-oriented and possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to articulate your design ideas effectively. You are open to feedback and willing to iterate on your designs based on user testing and team input.
What you'll do
As an Industrial Design Intern at Formlabs, you will help design new products from concept to production. You will develop design concepts that communicate the brand's values through functional and aesthetically pleasing hardware. Your role will involve prototyping continuously, creating everything from quick mockups to refined cosmetic models. You will test designs with users, gathering feedback and translating results back into the design process to enhance the hardware user experience. You will create high-quality CAD models to communicate design intent clearly and collaborate closely with Product, UI Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to ensure a well-balanced final product. Throughout your internship, you will have the opportunity to participate in social events and networking opportunities, gaining valuable insights into the industry while enjoying perks like unlimited 3D printing.

You will receive a competitive salary ranging from $2,400 to $2,800 bi-weekly, depending on your skills and qualifications.
