Who you are
You have experience bringing a new material to market from ideation to production — you've navigated the complexities of material development and understand the challenges involved in transitioning from lab to real-world applications. Your solid understanding of the fundamentals of materials science and polymer product development allows you to innovate effectively in this space.
Hands-on experience in thermo-plastic engineering is essential — you enjoy testing and troubleshooting, and you're not afraid to conduct hundreds of experiments to achieve optimal results. You love to harness data; designing and conducting rigorous experiments to optimize materials is second nature to you. You can work autonomously and thrive in a collaborative environment, partnering with cross-functional teams to iterate and improve material performance based on customer feedback.
What you'll do
In this role, you will build world-class SLS materials for 3D printing, starting from initial lab explorations to validation and commercialization. You will lead research that pushes the boundaries of SLS material performance, turning discoveries into next-generation solutions. Your responsibilities will include developing methodologies to evaluate material formulations in coordination with SLS print systems, balancing material chemistry, thermal dynamics, and printing parameters.
You will partner closely with product, hardware, and software teams to iterate and improve material performance based on customer feedback. Your work will directly impact the innovation and effectiveness of Formlabs' 3D printing technology, which powers industry leaders worldwide. You will be expected to document your findings and share insights with the team to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
What we offer
At Formlabs, we offer a competitive salary range of $110,000—$160,000 USD, along with equity in the form of RSUs. Your financial investment will grow with us in accordance with your impact.
