You are a skilled Barber who understands the profound impact you can have as a trusted confidant and informal mental health supporter. You believe that a barber chair is not just a place for a haircut; itβs a sanctuary for trust, conversation, and community healing. You are committed to creating a safe space for open dialogue and connecting clients to vital resources, becoming a crucial part of GLIDEβs wrap-around support system.
You have experience in providing haircuts and understand the importance of building self-esteem through your work. You are empathetic and possess strong interpersonal skills, allowing you to engage effectively with community members who may be experiencing homelessness, poverty, and mental health challenges. You are passionate about social justice and are eager to contribute to a mission-driven organization.
What you'll do
As a Barber at GLIDE, you will be responsible for providing complimentary haircuts to community members, ensuring that each client feels valued and respected. You will engage in meaningful conversations with clients, using your position to promote whole-person wellness and connect them to essential resources. Your role will involve not only cutting hair but also fostering a therapeutic environment that encourages trust and community building.
You will collaborate with other team members to create a welcoming atmosphere in the barbershop, where individuals can feel safe to share their experiences and challenges.
