Overview
GoFundMe is hiring a Staff Data Scientist, Pricing to optimize donation pricing and enhance donor experience. You'll leverage machine learning and behavioral science to drive strategic decisions. This role requires expertise in data analysis and economics.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in data science with a focus on pricing strategies and optimization — your experience includes applying machine learning techniques to real-world problems, particularly in the context of economics and behavioral science. You understand donor behavior and can model decision-making processes effectively, using data to inform your strategies. Your analytical skills are complemented by a deep understanding of how to leverage non-transactional behavioral signals to enhance user experience and conversion rates.
You are comfortable working with complex datasets and have a knack for translating data insights into actionable recommendations — your ability to communicate findings clearly to stakeholders is a key strength. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to drive impactful results. Your experience includes defining analytical strategies and success metrics that align with business objectives, ensuring that your work contributes to the overall mission of the organization.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own the end-to-end process of donation pricing and amount optimization — this includes defining the analytical strategy, modeling frameworks, and success metrics for pricing recommendations across various product surfaces. You will apply economic theory and behavioral science to model human behavior, estimate elasticity, and predict donor responses to changes in product design. Your work will directly impact donation conversion rates and enhance the overall donor experience.
You will leverage machine learning to analyze sparse and indirect behavioral signals, such as navigation patterns and timing, to inform pricing strategies. Collaborating with product teams, you will ensure that your insights are integrated into product design and choice architecture, ultimately driving critical social change through optimized donation processes. You will also be responsible for conducting experiments to validate your hypotheses and refine your models based on real-world data.
What we offer
At GoFundMe, you will be part of a mission-driven organization that values community and social impact. We offer a collaborative work environment where your contributions will be recognized and celebrated. You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about making a difference. Our hybrid work model allows for flexibility, with an in-office requirement of three days a week in San Francisco. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective could be just what we need.
